For example, the RRSP Home Buyers Plan was increased from $20,000 to $25,000 after a concerted lobby effort from REALTORS®… read more...Ontario’s REALTORS® Oppose Sales Tax HarmonizationOREA has written the Premier of Ontario to express REALTOR® opposition to the harmonization of the Provincial Sales Tax (PST) with the federal Goods and Services Tax (GST).In the submission, OREA noted that, according to the Ontario Home Builders’ Association, harmonization would result in, "at least an extra $15,000 in taxes" on a single family home in Ontario. A harmonized sales tax would also impose PST on a wide variety of fees associated with housing transactions such as legal, appraisal, real estate, and home inspections.
